It’s official! Yesterday, we joined Cognizant to become one of the foundational members of its Microsoft Business Group. As our team looks forward to building the framework of something new and incredibly exciting, I find myself reflecting on where 10th Magnitude came from and the hard work that got us here.
This new adventure with Cognizant is beginning exactly 10 years after I launched the company. Our first office was my spare bedroom, and even our third office — a non-air-conditioned loft overlooking a Chicago EL train platform — wasn’t much of an upgrade.
We were a small group back then, but we had a very big goal. We knew the cloud was the future and we wanted to put our knowledge of cloud technology to work helping others future-proof their businesses and gain a foundation to innovate and thrive.
Now on the cusp of our 10th anniversary, the impact of all our hard work has never been more evident. This milestone marks the beginning of a new era.
Building Cognizant’s Microsoft Business Group
When we launched 10th Magnitude, we set out to be truly amazing at one thing, not just OK at many things. We wanted to focus on one of the three cloud options available at the time and thoroughly evaluated them all. Microsoft Azure stood out to us as the clear winner.
The choice was easy because Microsoft was good to their customers, understood what their customers needed much better than the competition, and reliably delivered to align with those needs. Microsoft still takes this approach in everything they do — from the continuous evolution of their cloud platforms to products, services, and life-changing global initiatives. This approach aligns with that of Cognizant and New Signature as well.
Since then, we’ve not only become one of the leading service partners to Microsoft, but we’ve now received the great recognition and opportunity of being asked to partner with Cognizant and New Signature to build an innovative Microsoft Business Group — all with the goal of becoming the No. 1 Microsoft services partner across the globe.
Never in a million years did I think this would happen. It has been an experience beyond words to see how our team and the culture we’ve built has come together to bring us to this place. I’ve always believed we make the opportunities we get in life, and the past 10 years of hard work and teamwork has led us toward an industry-changing opportunity for our next act.
Fostering a Customer-Centric Culture of Innovation & Growth
It’s no secret that culture plays a major role in a company’s success. Engaged teams and well-served customers go hand-in-hand, but not all companies get culture right as they continue to grow. New Signature was built with strong values, and culture will remain a key focus in Cognizant’s Microsoft Business Group.
Just like at 10th Magnitude, New Signature and Cognizant are people-focused, and Microsoft technology has always been their North Star. We are now in the unique position of being able to combine two innovative, people-first, customer-centric companies with elite skillsets and similar cultures into a new business group with the resources of a global company. That’s why joining Cognizant’s Microsoft Business Group was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made — especially from the perspective of 10th Magnitude’s people and serving the expanding needs of our customers. The opportunities this creates both for our teams and customers is unprecedented.
As bittersweet as it is to watch your baby grow up, there’s no denying that this is an opportunity of a lifetime to be a part of something much bigger than ourselves. And the work we’ve done as 10th Magnitude does not end here. It will be amplified by the allied skills and expertise brought by New Signature, and the global reputation of Cognizant. With our vision, leadership, and values aligned, we’re on the verge of scaling at an exponential level.
