Microsoft Inspire is an annual conference that usually takes place in Las Vegas each year with global attendees. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event was an immersive digital experience with Microsoft partners watching online from around the world.
Many of us from 10th Magnitude tuned in to connect with other partners, learn what’s new at Microsoft, and explore emerging trends. With hundreds of breakout sessions, it would be impossible to summarize everything this fantastic event covered within a single blog post, but we’ve highlighted the major takeaways and announcements below.
Microsoft is Focusing on Four Key Business Priorities
Microsoft’s focus this fiscal year (FY21, which began on July 1) is on solutions that address the four key areas impacting organizations most in a post-COVID world, which include:
For government entities, first responders, local businesses, and large enterprises alike, these four areas are critical for every organization, making cloud technology more important now than ever. Gavriella Schuster, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, said that cloud services providers are like “digital first responders… supporting and lifting up frontline workers as they respond to this crisis,” and it’s all happening at record speed.
10th Magnitude has already been hard at work this year helping organizations deploy Windows Virtual Desktops to enable remote work, increasing cloud security and reducing off-shore risks with our 100% US-based Managed Services, and providing rapid cloud migration solutions to help companies get to the cloud faster. The Shift to the Cloud Has Accelerated
Digital transformation was a hot topic long before COVID-19, but it was being embraced slowly by many organizations. Now, it isn’t a question of when or if an organization will make the move to the cloud, it’s a question of how fast they can get there.
Getting out of physical data centers and into the cloud has become a top priority, not only for safety and remote work enablement but also to allow companies to be more technically agile so they can shift rapidly and serve customers in new ways. Cloud adoption will not only help companies endure this crisis; it will also help them thrive beyond it.
Organizations Are Doubling Down on Security
COVID-19 has initiated the largest, at-scale remote work experiment in history, and with so many more people working from home, companies are dealing with a host of new security vulnerabilities.
Microsoft is making investments in new tools and programs to help while working with cloud services partners to offer new solutions, like Cloud Security Managed Services, that help find and address security vulnerabilities for organizations.
Managed Services Are in Demand
Companies are adopting cloud technology more rapidly than ever before, but managing those new cloud environments is posing some challenges. It takes a specialized skillset to efficiently operate, optimize, and secure a cloud environment.
More and more companies are looking to outsource Azure management to skilled Azure experts — from security operations to day-to-day maintenance, and management of Windows Virtual Desktops. Outsourcing Azure operations to trusted partners allows IT departments to stay focused on client-centric and mission-critical work.
